SInce yesterday the 21st of March PST, I have had issues downloading WU's> here is the message I have gotten.

We've recently updated our clients and are testing them with the beta project. Thanks for pointing out this issue. I'll take a look at it this afternoon.

It's getting ridiculous with the beta eon client 2.30 WU 993100701_2_342200_0! The program downloads the workunits but the final process (eonclient-beta_2.30_windows_intelx86) never completes the download and just sits there waiting to finish. I've aborted hundreds of these this morning. It also seems as though I can't get another type of WU's to run. I went into my account and tried to change the preferances so as not to get any experimental WU and my account won't update to the settings I input! So I guess I won't be running eOn2 untill this gets fixed.

There is a bug in the BOINC server software that caused the issue with the account settings. I have fixed the issue and users can now opt out of running beta workunits. Sorry for this inconvenience! As expected with beta software it doesn't work right. We are fixing it. The main issue is that people were forced to run it! I apologize for this problem. Let me know if you still cannot opt out.

Thanks for the response. It's good to know that the project ADMINS are really involved and look in on the community forums. It WILL make the project better.

I am trying to restart eOn on my MacBookPro after the full server slowdown and I appear to be getting a variation of this issue. Although I have "use test apps" turned off it appears eOn is delivering a 2.3 executable with 2.03 tasks. All tasks report as failed download, although they are actually here. The executable is also reporting as not being here. There is one here.

MacBookPro SnowLeopard 10.6.7
This a.m. eon appears to be still sending the incorrect executable version but that file and the two .png's are zero byte files. The task files appear to be valid files.
Boinc manager reports tasks as failed downloads. On next connect tasks report up. On project reset zero byte files are cleared.

I have at this point uninstalled and re-installed BoincManager ver 6.10.58, 6.12.26 and 6.12.28 with no change in the outcome.

I too am having issues with download problems with Eon2. It started sometime after 7 pm. my time. I checked my screen to see what was going on and I saw a download error after 7 pm. I have tried resetting project, rebooting the computer and I am at a loss on what else to try now.

I had to abort the WU and then report it. I then tried to reset the project after several failed downloads of new WU. I think that this is something similar that is going on with the above but it was working fine sometime this morning. I watched it process 4 WU this morning before 11 am. Central time. It tries to reload and then gives up on the files it is seeking and then the download stops. I am running 11.04 Ubuntu OS with BOINC client version 6.10.59 for x86_64-pc-linux-gnu on an HP Laptop 2 cores. Thanks for the venting. I hope that the error is found soon. I like to crunch for this project. td109702

Same problems here for 3 days... can't get a download task. If it isn't a dll file then it's some other file.

I am experiencing virtually identical issues as above except only one of six computers is involved and then only after about 72 hours of eon tasks processing. On the Boinc Manager Tasks however I am continually receiving a "download failed" message. I have done everything possible that I know of to rectify the problem to no avail, The equipment in question is an XP managed Intel pentium 2.66 ghz that is update current. Both cores are affected.

Same problem for HOST ID: 5312

Intel Q6600 running on Win 7 x64

As of this morning, messages reports "project has no tasks available" so maybe they are cleaning up the disk etc. to correct the problems.

Still no WU's and no notices. Server Status page says all OK, just no work ready to go.

It's difficult to love a project where the volunteers have to guess about the status.

Not sure what it would take to get their attention in Austin. See ya. Going in search of more responsive staff.

I have been working at this problem for most of the day. Ever since the disk filled up things have been screwy with the server.

Glad to hear you're working on it, chill. You could do better in the keeping the volunteers informed.

A quick post in the "News" sticky thread would do wonders. Please note that nothing has been posted there since January.

As to the hardware, surely UT can afford some hardware upgrades. Seems like a shame to let the project founder over a tired server.
