I had this problem as well, but as my team is just one to make me aware of new projects, not my real team, I just created another account, and my BOINC-wide is now just sitting there.
Because this happens from time to time, my email and user name are different on BOINC-wide, so my CPID was not in danger.

You can test it yourself. Go to your account, set your community settings to alert you immediately by email. Then have someone send you a PM. If you don't get a notice, your email server is broken.
