Re: Project has no tasks available
Yes, thanks for the notes. A job finished last night and there was no backup to take up the slack. A new one was started this morning.
Re: Project has no tasks available
Looks like it's still not keeping up. Was working for a bit, but back to 0 tasks.
Re: Project has no tasks available
yeah, give us a sec.
Re: Project has no tasks available
Up and running again. Thanks.
Re: Project has no tasks available
... and it's down again - can someone shovel a litle more work into the servers, please?
Re: Project has no tasks available
I've come to the conclusion that the team is turning off the servers every 6 hours to save money. Is that correct or is there another reason for this stop and start with the work servers?
Re: Project has no tasks available
Counter-intuitively, it is actually the times when the server stability is rockiest that the most progress is being made. In this case, we are getting numbers for a paper which rely on single clean calculations. This allows for a benchmark which can be compared to the super computers at the national labs. Other times when things are rough is when new code is being pushed out. The long and steady production runs are good, but generally not as exciting (for the science) as the new things being tried.
Anyway, things will get back up when the students wake up, and it should be more steady this week.

It would be nice to know before hand if it's going to be stop and start with work. A single sentance on the forum would be nice.graeme wrote:Counter-intuitively, it is actually the times when the server stability is rockiest that the most progress is being made.
