Re: instant error with Client 4.00
He is, however, quite right. If the project wants volunteers to do their work for them, it is not unreasonable to expect some degree of testing before sending streams of useless wu's out. This morning, I allowed new tasks again, and downloaded a shed load of wu's with time to completion set to 00 ...

Re: eOn Client 4.00
Seems the server is not sending WU's anymore... possibly somebody noticed the problem and is correcting it... server status seems frozen... at least on my end.

Re: instant error with Client 4.00
Every project has problems at one time or another... You are a volunteer, they have no obligation to treat you special and send YOU a personal email.
Patience allows one to asses the relative importance of events in their lives. The errors and instantly failing WU's are such a small thing in life ...

I've emailed the folks on the web page in case they are not aware of the problem for some reason...

Re: eOn Client 4.00
It would appear the developers are allowing these bad WU's to run... have no idea why, but after hundreds of instantly failed WU's, detaching, reattaching, try again... well, time to give up on 4.0 I think.

Re: eOn Client 4.00
Yuppers to others problems... have OVER 100 e0n 4.0 tasks fail instantly so far and it sure isn't my system doing it...
:D
PS: Yes, tried to detach/reattach... no difference... all bad...

Re: 3.09 Deadlines too short- hog system
Yup, I have had to do that with 3.10 eOn also... first it sent some 1.5-2.5 minute tasks, then sent some really long ones with deadline too short so they hog my systems again. They always run high priority... take every core... These one day and two day deadlines suck big time... It doesn't let ...

Re: 3.09 Deadlines too short- hog system
LOL! Well, I take back that last post... it was running well, one task per host... then suddenly started loading me up again with one task per core...
Sigh...
We have to fix this someday!
LOL!

Re: 3.09 Deadlines too short- hog system
Well, somebody reads these threads! Now what is happening is that only ONE task is being sent per host at a time.
I can live with that until they extend the times and let us que up some more stuff and limit the internet activity.
Thanks to whomever!! A fast quick fix I can live with for now ...

Windows-7 vs. Linux on same machines
Still, the points difference between Windows and Linux is way too huge, just for the same runtime.
I'd be interested in seeing the difference in the benchmark on windows and linux for the same computer. I remember reading the the BOINC client benchmark isn't as optimized on linux as it is on ...

3.09 Deadlines too short- hog system
Howdy folks,
I have a problem with eOn... it seems every time I allow new tasks, they blast in with really tight deadlines and thus end up running high priority killing everything else running.
It appears all the tasks are given about 30 hours to complete. Most other projects allow a lot more time ...

Re: Low points
Opened up the tasks again yesterday and finally got some good results.

Looks like the tasks are scaled properly again, none of the wildness showing...
