Re: Problems should be solved shortly

Ged T-

I completely understand your position and conclusion. I am not technically proficient, just a grunt cruncher.

So, what I am going to do is give these guys a chance. I put all my machines on NNT for this project. I want to wait until I see an admin or project scientist come here and tell us ...

Re: Problems should be solved shortly

O.K., you need to tell us when we can go back to tasks. And you need to email out the notice, because alerts for replies to posts on this forum do not appear to be working.

Re: Tons of errors

Interesting also, I have "subscribe" set and got no notification of replies. I cam back to the post and found 4 replies, all the same complaint as mine. I have now checked "notify me".

Re: Profile Pictures

I think that this is a great project. But, you know, you guys in your forum structure are a wee bit idiosyncratic. Most forums allow signatures, avatars, etc. People like that stuff. For a lot of people there is something of a social element to crunching. You might re-think your philosophic position ...

Re: Computation errors

I just went, on 10.28 and 10.29, a couple of days of a huge load of small WU's, about which I understand. I just want to say, in 24 hours of sub ten minute WU's, I did 2006 credits, I had zero errors or unvalidated WU's. I am on a Win 7 i7-840QM with 8 gigs of DDR3 DRAM.

Re: Many many tasks, too many

Between 10.28 and 10.29, I did 2006 credits (BOINCStats).

Not too shabby.

Re: Many many tasks, too many

O.K., all of the 10.29.10 tasks cleared out, I checked the results, many pages, all good, Completed and validated.

All's well that ends well.

Re: Many many tasks, too many

I just checked my results, for 10.28.10, no errors, so many pages of "Complete and validated" I got tired of going back. I looked at the statistics in Boinc Manager, your graph went up nearly vertical. So, I think what ever was there got done.

Now, there are a ton of small tasks with a 10.29 10 ...

Many many tasks, too many

I have Eon running on an i7-840QM, I think the fastest i7 Intel makes for laptops. Hyper threaded quad, 8 gigs DDR3 DRAM.

O.K., because this machine is pretty hot, I have Connect every = 0.10 and Additional work 1.25 days. That keeps the machine in work, no problems with completion dates.
When i ...

Re: Computation errors

maybe I should post a question asking about it?"

That's sure more productive than making (bad) assumptions and ranting about it.

I did sorta kind ask about it, which is. quite frankly, more than most people would do. They would just leave. And, I got my answer. And, I am with the project. And, I ...

Re: Profile Pictures

I disabled the signatures. I'm not a fan of them because they lower the information density.

Thanks for your response. It's your show; but you just might be a bit short-sighted. There is a significant "social media" aspect to forum participation at both individual BOINC projects and those at WCG ...
