Re: autoconf/automake

Thank you very much for the patch, but as bader is a very simple program to build, I don't see how automake helps. Bader has no dependencies other than make and a fortran 90 compiler; there aren't any OS specific features to test for. However, I'd be happy to hear an argument for using automake and ...

Re: VTST 2.04b-VASP5.2.12 compiling error

Hello Kevin,

This part of the code should only compiled if you have set the preprocessor flag VASP_MPMD in your makefile, which is not set by default. Perhaps you could post the makefile you used?

Re: 3 bad WUs

We run several different kinds of simulations. The kind that we have been running for the past couple of months have a working progress bar. These recent poorly behaved jobs are a different type of simulation. I won't be submitting any more until I figure out why the progress bar isn't updating. Tha...

Re: POSCAR generation

ASE is a python module that is able to read and write POSCAR files (and many other formats). ASE provides an atoms object that allows one to do many useful manipulations. Even if you don't know python this should be pretty easy to use. Below are the links to ase and its documentation: https://wiki.f...

Re: Low points

[Prepared on Fri, 29th July - waiting for registration on the forum] Hello, this morning I found several WUs of V3.09 on my i7 860 (Win7 64b) that were running for nearly 5 hours. The least problem is that – due to the short deadline – they were/are all in high priority. The bigger problem I found ...

Re: Checkpoints?

Unless the 3.09 version's VERY long WU times are not an error, I would say this is a reason to have checkpointing. Its not an error but it is unexpected. There is no reason we need them to be this long. In about 24 hours there should be shorter work units. I will let the current long ones finish an...

Re: Low points

This is my first post joining this DC project. I'm so glad it's not just me experiencing the long long long WU times. I don't get any errors though. My longest WU is going on over 20 hours. This is crazy because I've never seen any DC project that used BOINC do this. The most recent batch of work t...

Re: Low points

The first wu's went ok after that they really started to slow down (these ones are not included in the average calculations) after 2 hrs 52% done when the first ones only took about 15-20 min to run ??? (only Collatz running on the GPU's, so nothing had changed during the test) Right now we are run...

Re: Low points

Sorry for the lack of work; there was a problem with the script that submits new jobs. We are actively developing and testing some new code which means that we will have some bugs. I will try to fix problems as quickly as possible.

Re: Checkpoints?

Currently it is not useful for us to receive workunits that are older than a day and most of our wus can be finished in an hour or two. Thus implementing checkpointing would only allow users to waste their CPU time on wus that were not needed. Also is there really a need to turn off computers? Betwe...

There is nothing wrong with your setup. We do not currently have support for checkpointing in our code.

Re: Disk limit

A new algorithm in the server side code that compares clusters of atoms is taking up all of our cpu time. It is taking too much time to process and compare the incoming workunits and thus no new work is being created. I started up a new simulation that shouldn't have this problem.

Re: Disk limit

Sorry about this problem. I have increased the disk limit temporarily. I will decrease the disk usage in a future version of the client.
