Re: News

Due to a cooling failure in the building where our eon server is housed the server was down for about 15 hours. Everything should be back up and running now.

Re: Change in Cobblestones ?

Actually, I take that back (sorta). One of my XP boxes is now showing time estimates of over an hour per task and is running eOn as "high priority," meaning everything else gets shunted off the CPU. Tad annoying, that. I'll see how many credits I get for those, but geez, I hope it doesn't...

Re: Change in Cobblestones ?

I am still looking into the credit issue. I am having a lot of trouble understanding how this can happen as we haven't modified anything about the way credit is granted. I am writing an email today to the BOINC developers mailing list to inquire about what might be going wrong. It might be a coincid...

Re: Earth to Administrators - Are you Here

Sorry for the long hiatus I was out of town without internet access and I am the primary administrator for our BOINC project. I think the issues have been resolved.

Re: Change in Cobblestones ?

Sorry for the long hiatus. I was out of town without internet access over the holidays.

We haven't explicitly changed anything with our credit. We were testing a new type of simulation over the past several weeks. I don't know how this would have affected credit.

Re: More news please

I understand the desire for more news and I can post more often, but it won't be very interesting. When we run out of work units it is normally because I have found some bug and stop making workunits until the bug has been fixed. The bug sometimes is with the client software and sometimes it is with...

Re: "Wurde nicht benötigt" (Was not needed?)

I have been testing some new simulation code lately and we have had some problems with it (ones that didn't show up in when I ran tests with the beta client). These 1711880151_* work units were marked as not needed on the server because they were getting into an infinite loop.

Re: Incorrect calculation - Client 1.18

I turned off the problematic simulation. We are currently working on coding up a fix for this type of simulation so that it cannot get stuck.

Re: Incorrect calculation - Client 1.18

It looks like the stuck workunits are a bug in our code (not a bad client). It current is possible for the code to get stuck in an infinite loop. I'll fix this at the same time that I update the linux binaries.

Re: Incorrect calculation - Client 1.18

I'm looking in to this. Could everyone, who hasn't said already, please tell me their operating system? If you run linux the output of "uname -a" would be nice. I have setup a new build process for compiling the client for all four platforms, and I did a small beta test and everything seem...

Re: Computation errors

139######## WUs are throwing computation errors for me as well. I am running OS X 10.6.5 and OS X Server 10.6.5 (fails on both). http://eon.ices.utexas.edu/eon2/results.php?hostid=4535&offset=0&show_names=0&state=5 These issues have been fixed in the latest version of our client. In add...

Re: Working to the deadline of Workunits

Hello, I have read about these forums that (currently) work units quickly become irrelevant. This is because saddle point calculations (currently) are very short and to get enough to satisfy your requirements does not take long. So this brings me to ask, if I complete work units shortly before thei...
